Atmospheric monitoring

Hilase offers its atmospheric humidity measuring instrument, which can be easily implemented on research aircrafts. Depending on the sampling inlet, it can be used to measure water vapour and/or total water. This instrument was already successfully operated e.g. within the CARIBIC project and a flight test within a EUFAR (EU FP6) project.

Hilase is participating "The IAGOS for the GMES Atmospheric Service" (IGAS, EU FP7). The new IGAS collaborative project serves to establish in-service aircraft measurements as a distributed infrastructure for the European Commission’s Earth Observation Programme. IGAS brings together 13 partners in atmospheric research; it is coordinated at the Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry. In this project task of Hilase is development of a compact water vapour and total water instrument (Hilase-Hygro) and developing for the instrument various self-checking algorithms, which ensure the reliability of its long term unattended operation.
